This video explores the cost of data centers to the local population. All across the US, large amounts of new data centers are being built, and when they are ready they will cause nonstop noise, pollution and rapidly rising electricity bills.

Short film showing the dangers of autonomous lethal weapons (killer robots). At the time, it was a warning about what could happen in the future, but now companies like Anduril are making similar technologies a reality.

Deepfakes are out of control. Anyone can manipulate your image with as little as one photo and the results are frighteningly accurate. They are often used to create sexually abusive material, commit fraud, and harass individuals. This needs to stop.

This video explores TESCREALism, a dangerous worldview that has taken hold across the world’s most powerful tech companies, from OpenAI to Tesla. It’s the belief that biological humans are flawed and temporary, and that a post-human future dominated by AI is both inevitable and desirable.

What to read

From the author of Blood in the Machine: The Origins of the Rebellion Against Big Tech. This blog looks at how modern technology exploits workers, and how they are resisting this change.

The Nerd Reich covers Silicon Valley tech’s extremist politics, the Dark Enlightenment, The Network State, Elon Musk, et al. and the meta politics of California.

Practical

AI scams are becoming more and more frequent. Here is a short and practical guide for how you can protect yourself and your family.

This video explains Nightshade, which is a defensive tool for artists against AI art generators.

Statements on AI risk

“Mitigating the risk of extinction from AI should be a global priority alongside other societal-scale risks such as pandemics and nuclear war.”

Statement signed by hundreds of the world’s foremost AI experts.

“The unlicensed use of creative works for training generative AI is a major, unjust threat to the livelihoods of the people behind those works, and must not be permitted.”

Statement signed by 50k artists.

“As people of faith, we believe we should rapidly develop powerful AI tools that help cure diseases and solve practical problems, but not autonomous smarter-than-human machines that nobody knows how to control.”

Statement signed by U.S. Christians from different denominations.

No New Data Centers

Opposition to data centers is growing rapidly. Already more than 220k people are part of local anti-datacenter groups. So far, these groups have caused $98 billion of data center projects to be canceled or delayed.

If a datacenter is coming to your neighborhood, joining a local opposition group or starting a new one is the most important thing you can do. Find groups near you in the map below.
